Meet our UX / UI designer

Kevin was born in New Jersey and lives today in San Francisco, California. He is a self-taught designer who has learned everything he knows in practice. He already has 13 years of experience in the UI/UX designer career and with each new project his passion for the area and the creative part of design continue to grow. He worked for different companies in the United States until he decided to work remotely three years ago, two of these as part of the New ZealandCasinos team.

UX (user experience) and UI (user interface) are two fundamental elements of web design. As a UX designer, Kevin is in charge of making a website or digital product follow a certain logical path that leads the user during the process or experience. As a UI designer, he makes sure that the entire visual part of this process/experience is well presented and matches what each part wants to communicate.

Your working process is to first think about how to create this logical path. Then it's time to bring it to life, using a certain visual that gives users a sense of interaction and communication. For him, the goal of a design is to solve problems. In this way, Kevin has spent his career constantly looking for problems and coming up with creative solutions to them. Over the years, he has worked in three American companies as a designer and collaborated on projects open source , as the framework Bootstrap .

As a personal project, he created a blog in which, since 2015, he writes about his creative process and about emerging topics and technologies related to User Experience and User Interface. His interests include photography, illustration and projects in which he can exercise his creative side.

Professional experience

Kevin entered the job market as a graphic designer very early, which helped him develop his critical eye and learn basic design tools and principles. He quickly became interested in web design, User Research and Design Thinking, focusing on more ambitious digital projects that required greater planning. Soon, he specialized as a UX and UI designer.

During 13 years as a designer, Kevin worked for two US marketing companies and an online commerce startup, where he learned how to create designs that are effective and optimized for conversions. He also worked on side projects, such as mobile applications, implementing the gamification to increase user engagement and generate more revenue for the company. He also studied the so-called Information Architecture (IA), which takes structural design into the virtual environment.

In 2015, he decided to open up to remote work, which allowed him more flexibility to pursue one of his passions, the slow travel . Since 2017, he has been working with new ZealandCasinos team to make the site a trusted source of content to New Zealand players.

As our sole UI/UX designer, Kevin knows how to run, facilitate and analyze surveys and data collected about our users. He also understands the need to highlight our content through page layout and information structure, making our brand identity unique and memorable to readers.

Role and assignments at New ZealandCasinos

Kevin is responsible for setting up an unbeatable user experience on our platform. Your responsibilities include researching our target audience to understand and know their expectations and feelings regarding the subject of online gaming, creating the branding of the platform and the layout and design of the website. The structure of information, which should be clear, objective and intuitive, is also your duty.

For him, his main role is to research the target audience. To do this, it uses tracking tools to study the goals of our users and know exactly how their positions on certain issues are changing. In the process, he develops a better understanding of his needs. Kevin also conducts empirical research with closed groups to measure their reactions and enhance the final product further. His trained eye was essential in creating a visual identity for New ZealandCasinos that reflects our principles and goals.

Kevin primarily works with tools like InVision and Sketch for his wireframe and interactive prototyping process. As a UX designer, Kevin knows that it's not enough to know how users act, react or think about your design. It is necessary to know how they feel during their experience on the platform, and that is why he is the perfect professional to be part of the new ZealandCasinos programming team.

Learn more about Kevin

One of my favourite parts of being the UX/UI designer at New ZealandCasinos is being able to delve into New Zealand culture. Because we wanted to create a website that represented New Zealand players and spoke directly to them, I spent months researching our audience, getting to know their needs and understanding their feelings towards online gaming. At that time, I worked with our Editor., Sandra , so that we were always on the same page regarding the approach to content.

It's been great. Everyone in the team is excellent professionals and everyone understands everything a little. So I can discuss my ideas with everyone. My goal is for designs to always answer a question, solve a problem and be directly in touch with New Zealand users. I believe we have achieved this with New ZealandCasinos, which is one of the only content platforms for New Zealand players and punters. Today, New ZealandCasinos fills a gap that was open, and this is wonderful because not only was the design thought to solve one problem, the entire platform was created that way.

Like several members of the team, I got to know the world of iGaming through online poker . A lot of my friends used to gamble online for fun and that's when I found out there were online casinos back in 2010.
